Brilliant Borders
With Chris Bailes
Tuesday 15th June 201010.15am-1.00pm
For most of us our borders are the centrepiece of our gardens and organising a colourful display in them is crucial. We are fortunate that Chris Bailes the Head Gardener at RHS Rosemoor has agreed to come and describe how he manages and maintains their gardens to such a high standard and sustains colour and interest over a long season. He will spend part of the morning looking at the traditional approach to their management and then will examine some of the more modern practices being adopted.
£65 including lunch
Chris Bailes began his gardening career in London before moving to work for Hugh Johnson in Essex in the early 1970s. He then took a position with Kew culminating in being Supervisor of the Orchid Unit and travelling on plant expeditions to East Africa, India, Nepal and Borneo. In 1988 he joined the RHS as Curator of Rosemoor and for six years was also responsible for Hyde Hall. He has also written a number of books, articles and papers.
