Colour in a Small Garden
With Timothy Walker
Wednesday 9th June 201010.15am-1.00pm
Based on the Botanic Garden’s Gold Medal winning exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show Timothy Walker will explain some of the theory employed by artists and gardeners to achieve harmonious effects in a confined area and suggest this can be more challenging than in a large garden. He will emphasise that plant selection and their related flowering period are the crucial ingredients to success. His lecture will include illustrations of colour combinations drawn from some of the most beautiful gardens in Britain, Ireland and beyond.
£60 including lunch
After extensive horticultural training Timothy Walker was appointed Horti Proefectus, (Director in normal parlance!) of the Oxford Botanic Garden in 1988. He has masterminded many developments and improvements at this widely admired garden. Between 1992 – 2000 the Garden won seven medals at the Chelsea Flower Show including four Golds. He is an accomplished and entertaining speaker on a whole host of gardening topics and a regular contributor at Coton.
