Woodland Garden

The Woodland Garden is dominated by a large Tulip tree, Copper Beech tree and a Walnut amongst others. From late winter this area is carpeted with bulbs. Aconites, snowdrops and hellebores flourish under the trees in the early months. We open for a short period in winter for visitors to see the hellebores and snowdrops.

In April, the hellebores and the last of the white narcissus are joined by erythroniums, trilliums, anemones, hepaticas, violas, pulsatillas and many other early flowering plants.

Later in summer the Woodland Garden provides a cool, shady, peaceful retreat. The planting relies mainly on different greens and foliage plants such as ferns, hostas, acanthus, fatshedera.
